So a day after Nolan and Scotty add WR Bryant Johnson from the Cardinals (hooray!), they waive WR Darrell "D-Drop" Jackson (wait, really?).
I'll be back on Sunday to discuss this really, really, really bold move by Nolan and Scotty, as well as my quick takes on a lot of other Niner-happenings I missed during my winter vacation from the Observer.
But my initial reaction on the waiving of D-Drop? Very bad move, but I believe there COULD be some sound reason behind it. I'll explain Sunday.

Yeah, I was shocked too. The only reasoning I can see behind it is to make cap room for someone else. Considering that they've got ample room already, does this mean they plan to make a big move somewhere? Are there any big moves to make?
A lot of people are cheering this move on, but I just don't see why this couldn't have waited until camps were at least underway. We'll see I guess.
This is why I like the 49ers Observer--instead of most fans' gut-reaction to spew bile at "d-drop," you guys let yourself remain open to the possibility that there is more to the story (but still state an opinion).
I agree-why waive Jackson now? Perhaps they thought, as many of us have, that he has the same skill set as Battle but costs less...?
